University of Sheffield MRI Unit

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Scanner

The University of Sheffield MRI Unit participates in studies involving Magnetic Resonance techniques. Our particular areas of interest are Neuro imaging, foetal imaging and the use of hyperpolarised agents for Magnetic Resonance. However, we are able to assist investigators in most clinical areas who wish to undertake research using MRI techniques.

We currently operate four MR scanners at different sites across Sheffield; three based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (two 1.5T and one 3T PET-MR), and one at the Northern General Hospital (wide bore 1.5T). More details can be found on their website: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/medicine/research/research-themes/medical-imaging/medical-imaging-facilities
