Brief overview of Research Background/ activity:
- 3 Years postgraduate laboratory based research for Ph’D
- One year Research Registrar at Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham.
- Several ethically approved projects completed to publication since Consultant Appointment in 1998.
- Currently local PI for two portfolio studies
Grants/ studies:
- SALVO – cell salvage in Obstetrics. Part of team who prepared the successful grant application and principal investigator for Sheffield.
- POISE2 – perioperative aspirin and clonidine and their effects of perioperative cardiovascular events. PI for Sheffield for this multicentre study.
- BALANCED – RCT of two levels of BIS during surgery – PI for Sheffield for the multinational study.
- Can changes in the Pleth Variability Index be used to predict significant hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for Caesarean section? Chief Investigator – small grant from OAA
