This page contains information about a research study investigating the causes of pneumonia in people with HIV infection. This study is now closed. The aim of the study was to look at how HIV affects a part of the immune system that is important at the very earliest stages of lung infection. A total of 31 volunteers agreed to take part in the study, the majority of whom were patients attending for HIV care at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. We are indebted to these volunteers without whom this study would not have been possible.
