Current COVID-19 trials and other research at STH

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is prioritising COVID-19 research and has initiated a new national process. They are pausing their support for studies that are not nationally prioritised, including studies on topics other than COVID-19.

You can find out more here about how the NIHR is prioritising funding and support for COVID-19 research.

You can find more about all COVID-19 studies that have already received approval from a Research Ethics Committee here.

The Trust is following national guidance to manage the outbreak of COVID-19. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has clearly defined the priority as supporting the COVID-19 Urgent Public Health studies identified by the Department of Health and Social Care, with other non-COVID-19 research being stepped down.

We are now delivering and in the process of setting-up both observational and interventional trials about COVID-19.

We continue to deliver a small number of non COVID-19 research studies where the benefits to patient safety of continued participation outweigh the risks of stopping.

You can read the latest news from the Trust about this here with details of the trials running at STH found here. (Excel file download)
